Hello, my name is Laura Hancock, I'm married with two grown children . I would like to tell you about my background in Child Development . I have been teaching young children for twenty-Nine years. I have my Bachelor's degree in Human Development. I worked for Pepper-Tree preschool in the City of Diamond Bar, Orange County Head Start in the City of Placentia and lastly Garden Grove School District . I'm also involved in the California Early Childhood Mentor Program as a Mentor Teacher. I also have my Child Development Site Supervisor permit. I completed my Pediatric CPR and First Aid, along with my Child Care Preventative Health & Safety.
I believe as a childcare professional with twenty-nine years experience teaching, my obligation to parents and families is to make sure their child is in a safe and loving environment. I believe that all children have the right to experience quality childcare. Each child is an individual, with unique abilities and interests. All children should be treated equally, and each child's social and cultural background will be acknowledged and respected. Children learn through their play, interests and meaningful interactions with others. If a child is allowed to play freely, his/her desires to learn can increase.
I believe a childcare professional must have a comprehension and understanding of child development, and present a program that is designed to meet the educational, emotional, social, health and nutritional needs of children and their families.
